Vaccinated

I got my COVID vaccine today. I got the Moderna vaccine.

I am so relieved. I knew I would be, but I guess I hadn't realized just how much. My sister is getting hers on Wednesday. I had vague plans of visiting her sometime this year, and this makes it much much more doable earlier in the year than I had dared to hope. Her baby is almost two and a half years old, and growing rapidly. I want to see her. And, I want to be hugged and held. No one has touched me in a year, and I feel so excited to see them and to give and receive giant big hugs.

    I'm so glad you received your vaccine! I'm sure it was a bit of a relief, knowing when you get the second, you'll be far better prepared if you come in contact with someone.

    I am hoping to get my husband an appointment since he falls in the plus 65 group. A friend through nepotism got her vaccine with her significant other through an appointment, while our county health department is doing drive thru vaccine clinics. The clinic was supposed to start at 9 a.m. and people starting lining up at 7 p.m. the night before and before they even opened the clinic, they already had more than 500 in line and had to turn people away since there were only 500 vaccines available.

    I am in the 65+ group. My healthcare provider is offering vaccines, but with the huge undersupply, I don't think they'll get to me any time soon. I've been instructed to wait for an invitation to make an appointment, but I'm afraid others are line-jumping somehow.

    My uncle went to hug me today & said “I’m not going to give you Covid!” I told him “It’s okay, I have my vaccine!” I’m still wearing my mask & taking precautions, but it does give you a greater measure of security.
